My Recount Writing on Our 2021 Marae Stay!

Good Morning/Afternoon! This week we created a Recount writing on our recent Marae trip, the name of the Marae was 'Takipu Marae'. This took me a week to finish, and we were learning how to: Use specific nouns in our writing. I added photos of our experiences in the trip. Here's my piece:

Our 2-Day Stay at Takipu Marae

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" The students yelled, I pushed through the inflated stardome. Inside it was dark, with only the projector lighting up the room. All the students from our group, Group 2, settled down on the soft fluff rug.

Auntie suddenly spoke over the headset, "I'll now play a video for us to watch." The blank screen lit up and flashed hues and animated people from Māori tribes illuminated from the optical device. Auntie continuously explained and reflected the story and the valuables and stratagems the tribes used during travel at sea, their early lives, and traditions.

After the short movie clip, she introduced us to the picture of the start our ancestors used to navigate to their locations, and everyone sang a beautiful tune about the image of the stars she taught us. Next on the exhibit was the best part of the stardome, the projector played overhead a collection of heavenly bodies of stars, I layed down, gazing up. The stars looked like an empty black canvas, with white paint dotted and sprinkled on the frame in a caressed way, I felt a sense of unexplainable joy. The room went quiet and relaxed, inaudible "Oohs" and "Woah!" can be slightly heard. "Look Hannah! It's those stars we saw earlier!" My friend, Seddon exclaimed, pointing up and following where the little sun went. "Oh there it is!" I enthusiastically replied back, spotting the miniature orb.

"We'll have to go now everyone! Say thank you to her for being here with us today." Mrs. Naden announced. Groans and mumbled complaints could be heard from the kids, everyone got up and waved goodbye, I decided to utter my gratitude to Auntie for being able to teach us about fascinating history, "You're welcome, Hannah!" She replied back, the same as before, we counted to five, a student left the stardome, repeatedly until everyone was outside the platform. As we left the Wharekai, I thought to myself "I hope we can do this another time!" as I pull on my shoes for the next activity at Takipu Marae.

My Goal Setting for Term 1 2021

Hello! For Term 1 we created a Goal Setting, basically a Goal Setting is the goals you want to achieve, you're to write this in the first term and make sure to fulfill all of these goals on the 2nd term. We have 4 goal topics to fill in, which are our R.E Goal, Social Goal, Learning Disposition Goal, and Academic Goal.

Our R.E Goal is about our Goal we want to fulfill in our R.E curriculum area. Social Goal is about working together or cooperating with the class during activites and group discussions. Learning Disposition Goal is about being confident and never giving up, and how we are going to fulfill those traits. Lastly, our Academic goal is about what subject area we want to be better at and to improve our learning.
Here's my Goal Setting for Term 1, 2021!

My Horouta Waka Animation You Need to See!

For Week 8, each of us in our class created an animation on Google slides on how the Horouta Waka and the people aboard ventured from Hawaiki to Aotearoa, this took me lots of time. And to make it, I watched a video and read a story on slides about the histoy of the first people who came to New Zealand way, WAY before the 1900's.

Hawaiki was a place where Polynesians originally came from before they scattered across Polynesia. It was believed that the Maori people originally came from this place. They discovered a ton of materials here in New Zealand used to this day.

A Maths Bar Graph Comparing Most Selled Video Games

Yesterday for Maths, we were learning how to: Sort multivariate data into a graph. How this works you may ask? For the task, we gathered data, but for this we gather data from "The most selled video games", thought of what numbers we should have on the side to show what its scaling, and the bars to show the scaling. The games I scaled were Minecraft, GTA V, Tetris, Wii Sports, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Super Mario Bros, and lastly Pokemon. As you can see, the most selled was Minecraft with 20,000,000 sold worldwide, and the lowest is Pokemon with 47,520,000 sold. Here's my bar graph:

My Extremely Staggering Whale Art!

In Week 6, according to my post last week, it was Sea Week! Our class created a presentation about information you have to know about our chosen marine animal! For it, I chose a Sperm Whale, if you haven't seen my previous post. Please do check it out! I will give a link to my Sea Week presentation. Anyway, we created an art of a whale using dye, this art was inspired by an artist named Michelle Fleur, who draws thousands and thousands kinds of whales using watercolour/dye!

Moving on to how we created our art, we started to experiment with using dye on scrap paper. Next, we created a sketch of the real art and used a model of a real whale to guide us. After, we used dye to colour the creature, and for finishing touches.. we used white paint to draw the 'rorqual', or the lines under the whale starting from its throat and to its stomach.

Here's my whale art. Thank you for visiting my blog!

My Magnificent Easter Story Wreath!

Have you made a Easter Story Wreath before?
Today for Religious Education, I created a Wreath based off the Easter Story of Jesus. 7 events happened, which was in a duration of 7 days, which is called "Holy Week".

We made the wreath by shaping it into a round circle like an Advent wreath using two plates with different sizes by using paper, coloured in cutouts with felts and coloring pencils and cut out quotes, and assembled and glued the pieces on the ring. We watched a video and a presentation briefing about the history and where everything took place, I used this information as a guide to place all the cutouts in order so everything would look coordinated. Each of us students in our class made a short Flipgrid video explaining the events in detail too.

The series of events started from Jesus entering Jerusalem, then the Last Supper with his disciples, Jesus praying in a garden in Gethsemane, the crucifixion of Jesus, his resurrection, Jesus' ascension, and the Holy Spirit coming down.

Finally is the wreath I have created, I hope you like it! Please do comment if you have any questions.

Hot Cross Bun Making with the class!

Hello everyone! On Week 10 Term 1 of school, before Holy Week, our class created Hot cross buns! The other senior and junior classes created hot cross buns too, but I believe our class' idea was even more creative. For our idea we created a giant hot cross bun in which we used a bread maker instead of an oven.

We started off with the basics. Yeast, white sugar, salt, wholemeal flour & flour, eggs for the dough. I will be posting the link to the site to make hot cross buns in the end! Anyway, each of us in the class took turns putting in a portion of the ingredients into the maker, kneading the dough and adding spices.

The hot cross bun reminds us of the spices, the cross, the shape of the bread, and the raisins and bread itself. The cross reminds us of the time Jesus dies on the cross on Good Friday. The raisins and bread resembling the body and blood of Jesus Christ, and the Last Supper, where Jesus takes the bread and breaks it, and took the wine and shared it with the disciples. Lastly, the spices resemble the time where he was layed in the tomb after he died and was moved from the cross, was wrapped in a cloth, and his body was rubbed in spices. The round shape of the bread shows the shape of the rock that was rolled away from the tomb when Jesus was risen from the dead.

The making took awhile, but if we just waited, we were going to be able to have our finished product! As it was taken out of the maker and placed on the wood board the aroma of the food stretched off in the classroom, the smell of the spices filled my nose. And to be able to share the item with the class our teacher cut off the bread in pieces that would be enough for the pupils, we had also gathered butter and jam to spread on the piece of slice. Sharing the food item reminded me of Jesus breaking the bread and sharing it with his disciples. This day was a memorable time of all, we surrounded the loaf of bread with cloth and prayer table items, to make the space looking lovely.

Finally, is the collage, our last task was to make a photo collage on our google drawing, and I would love to show my creation with you guys. So here is my one:
